31 August 2018Scottish harper adds extra Edinburgh date with award-winning Russian orchestra

Scottish harper Karen Marshalsay has been invited to play an extra concert with the award-winning Russian String Orchestra, Misha’s Gang at theSpace @ Surgeons Hall on Wednesday, August 22 at 3pm.

Marshalsay, who specialises in playing the music of the bagpipes on the clarsach, has appeared on the Edinburgh International Festival and at the Edinburgh Mela with the Herald Angel-winning piper Allan MacDonald and currently works with Boys of the Lough founder Cathal McConnell’s trio. She will be performing orchestrations of her own compositions with the orchestra.

Formed by Misha Rachlevsky, who also founded the New American Chamber Orchestra, Misha’s Gang have performed all over the world as Chamber Orchestra Kremlin.They recently premiered “For Misha’s Gang – Suite for small, medium, large and extra large fiddles,” a specially commissioned work by Crimean composer Eskender Bekmambetov in New York and toured China earlier this year. They appear at theSpace @ Surgeons Hall until August 25 before playing concerts at the Tolbooth, Stirling on Sunday, August 26 and Eden Court, Inverness on Tuesday, August 28.
