Pianist Fergus McCreadie launches album with four nights at Glasgow's Blue Arrow

Young Glasgow-based pianist Fergus McCreadie launches his trio’s first album, Turas, with a four-night run at Glasgow’s new jazz club, the Blue Arrow in Sauchiehall Street on April 18, 19, 21 and 22.

Still only twenty, McCreadie, who is studying on the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's jazz course, has already made an impression on the jazz world. He won the prestigious Peter Whittingham Jazz Award in 2016, the £5000 prize money from which went towards recording Turas.

His trio features the current Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year, bassist David Bowden and drummer Stephen Henderson, who was selected by Europe’s leading jazz magazine, Jazzwise, as one to watch in 2018. The group recently appeared at Gateshead International Jazz Festival in a bill whose headliners included singer Georgie Fame, veteran bandleader Chris Barber and the Sun Ra Arkestra and will be appearing at Edinburgh Jazz Festival in July.
